I went on a bit of a video game shopping spree last night. I couldn’t help myself! Check out what I bought!
So I just went on my first Video Game Shopping Spree…probably ever. I usually buy one game at a time and focus on it. I know I’ve bought two versions of a Pokemon game at once (I was young) and maybe two unrelated games at another time. Tonight, I kind of went overboard. I’m usually good with saving my money – or at least saving up to buy something big. Just last year I bought a brand new 40 inch 1080p 240hz TV and a 7.1 Surround Sound that can decode just about anything. Anyways, back to my purchases. I bought several games tonight. Some old, some new, some both! Here’s a quick list:
- Silent Hill (PSN)
- Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3)
- Final Fantasy XIII Chinese Edition (PS3)
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 Special Edition (PS3)
- Final Fantasy XIII-3 Chinese Edition (PS3)
- Condemned: Criminal Origins (Xbox 360)
FYI, the Chinese Editions have Japanese audio and English or Chinese Subtitles. Some of you may be asking, “Why did you buy multiple copies of the same game?!” Well, I love Final Fantasy for their story and I pretty much prefer Japanese of English voice acting. Here’s some clips in one video of what I’m talking about.
I also own the English version of Final Fantasy XIII, and I’ve beaten the hell out of it. I only have like 3 trophies left to get which are the hardest of them all! I’ve also recorded and pieced together all the cutscenes on my computer for my own enjoyment. It’s like a giant movie or a mini series. It came out to around 7-8 hours of footage. I’ll probably do the same with the Japanese version.
Oh, and on another Japanese related note, I bought Battle Royale on Blu Ray. Believe it or not it BARELY came out on blu ray in the US. 🙂 If you haven’t seen this movie yet, WATCH IT RIGHT AWAY! It’s definitely one of my favorite movies. I hear the Hunger Games sounds very similar to it.
As for the other things, I’m a huge survival horror fan along with JRPGs. Those may be my top two favorite genres. I was playing Siren: New Translation (AKA Blood Curse) just a bit ago. I was partially thinking about writing a wiki guide for that game since there’s no help on all of IGN, but I have things to do and games to play :p I’ve played Silent Hill 1-3 in the past, and I still own 2 and 3 (Special Copy with Soundtrack) on PS2, even though I don’t own a PS2 anymore. I was a bit bummed about SH3 having new voice actors, but I think I may be able to power through it. I don’t remember Silent Hill 1 all that much, and it was only $6, so I thought “Why the hell not?” As for Condemned, I’ve played it in the past and earned all Achievements, but I thought it was a good enough game to buy again.
Not long ago I didn’t have a job. I had to resort to selling some of my games to buy the new ones. I wasn’t stupid enough to sell them at same game trade in place, but it’s not like I earned all the money back from the sale. I think the only other game I would want to rebuy is Alan Wake. I may get the special edition on that too! Here’s a small list of games I still want to buy or rent:
- Alan Wake Collector’s Edition (Buy)
- Mirror’s Edge (Buy)
- Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition (Buy)
- Mass Effect 3 (Buy)
- Pokemon Platinum (Buy)
- Uncharted 3 (Rent)
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations (Rent)
- Silent Hill Downpour (Rent)
- Silent Hill Shattered Memories (Maybe buy)
- Silent Hill Book of Memories (Definitely rent, looks kind of bad)
- Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (Rent. I hear bad things)
I have a small collection of games that I still own. Only the best of the best IMO. Final Fantasys, Mass Effects, Elder Scrolls, Resident Evils, God of Wars. I sometimes wonder if these physical copies will be worth more or less now that you can buy many of these titles cheap through digital download.
Out of all these games I still want to play, there’s only two franchises I still want to get my hands on. Since I’ve been strapped for time, I gave up on some franchises like Dragon Age, Chrono Cross, Fable, etc. I still want to try out some Legend of Zelda games and Metal Gear Solid, especially since they came out with an HD Re-release of the latter.
