Gerudo Town is an isolated, female-only town in the middle of the Gerudo Desert. You can reach the town by following the main road west through the mountains from The Great Plateau, and passed the Kara Kara Bazaar.
The desert will be very hot during the day and very cold at night. Both times will reduce your health if an elixir or the proper armor is not used. The monsters in the area use electric-powered weapons and attacks. Do not use metal weapons or you will drop them the instant you are hit by an electric attack.
Once you reach Gerudo Town, you will find that the guards will not allow men to enter. This will begin the quest Forbidden City Entry. Interact with the Daqo Chisay Shrine nearby to create a fast travel point.
Forbidden City Entry
Speak with the merchant, Benja, near the gate to learn of a man who travels between Gerudo Town and Kara Kara Bazaar.
Follow the main road back to Kara Kara Bazaar. You will hear rumors of female Gerudo who visits the General Store. She will actually be standing at the very top of the highest point of Kara Kara Bazaar. Climb the ladders and speak with Vilia to get the chance to purchase some Gerudo Armor. She will charge you 600 Rupees for the set. Fast travel back to Gerudo Town and you will be allowed to enter. This will complete the Forbidden City Entry quest.
Gerudo Town
Now that you’re in Gerudo Town you can do a little exploring, but make sure you do not change armor or you will be immediately thrown out of town. An Inn called Hotel Oasis is also located on the right side of the street. You can take the standard room for 20 rupees or the special spa plan for 80 rupees. Side Quest Recover the Thunder Helm
Introduce yourself to Gerudo Chief Riju. Tell her you will be able to calm the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. Before she accepts, she will give you a test. You must recover her stolen Thunder Helm from the Yiga Clan. Speak with Captain Teake in the barracks to learn the details.
After talking to Captain Teake, you will need to travel to the yellow marker on the map. It is located just north of the Gerudo Tower. Stock up on healing dishes, elixirs that boost stealth, and use Stealth Armor. Make note, completing this part of the quest will cause members of the Yiga Clan to appear and attack throughout Hyrule.
You can rent a sand seal from the merchant at the southeast corner of Gerudo Town to make a quick trip to the hideout. It’s 20 rupees to rent a sand seal, or 50 rupees to rent a sand seal and a shield to surf on.
Once you reach a cavern, boulders will drop from the ceiling. Eventually, you will reach a rock wall that the sand seal cannot traverse. You must leave the sand seal and go the rest of the way on foot.
Make your way up the path and the Yiga Clan will begin popping up and attacking. Use bow and arrows to take quick shots before they disappear and reappear somewhere else.
Yiga Clan Hideout
Inside the cave will be several tapestries hanging around a pedestal. Set them all on fire to reveal the path onward and a few items including a Sapphire and Purple Rupee. This can be done with a fire arrow, lighting a regular arrow on fire using the torches, or lighting a wooden melee weapon on fire using the torches.
Enter the Yiga Clan Hideout. You will find a few Mighty Bananas next to a prisoner. She will give you a hint that the Yiga Clan love Mighty Bananas. You can drop one on the ground to temporarily distract them. Stay crouched, walk slowly, and use elixirs that boost stealth. Up ahead is a big guard that you will have to sneak by. If this guard or any other guard sees you, they will kill you with a single hit. Stick to the left wall to avoid him.
A guard will be blocking the door up ahead. Shoot the wooden platform on the other side of the room to drop some Mighty Bananas and distract the guard. Quickly run through the door and continue on.
Before going into the next room, climb the ladder at the end of the hall. Follow the catwalks to a room filled with Might Bananas and a treasure chest containing a Topaz.
Next, jump and glide to the platform in the center of the room to open a treasure chest containing a Silver Rupee. Look around the room to map out your next path. All you have to do is shoot a platform with some Mighty Bananas and sneak passed the guards.
At the southwest corner of the room are several gems. Hit the platform with the bananas, jump down and grab the gems. Crouch northward and hit the other platform with Mighty Bananas to get the guard’s attention. Sneak passed the guard and climb the ladder.
The door onward is located to the east. Get some Mighty Bananas from your inventory and drop them in front of the guard to distract him, then run through the door behind him.
A treasure chest is in the middle of the next room. More Mighty Bananas are inside this chest. Use the Magnesis Rune to pull out a few treasure chests from the dirt. They contain more gems. You might also notice the wall glows when using the Magnesis Rune. Use the Rune to open a secret door to the exit.
Boss Battle Master Kohga
You will meet the leader of the Yiga Clan, Master Kohga, at the exit. Quickly switch your armor and weapons to something more fitting for combat. Master Kohga will create a barrier, making him immune to direct attacks. He will then summon a giant ball to throw at you. Shoot Kohga with a bow and arrow to have him drop the ball on his own head. As he is stuck in the dirt, run over to Master Kohga and land a few melee attacks before he gets back up.
Once Master Kohga’s HP is about 50%, he will float over a giant hole and summon two balls. Shoot him again when one of the balls is floating directly over his head. This will launch the leader back over the ground. Hit him a few more times with melee attacks.
Once Master Kohga’s HP reaches 25%, he will float over the same giant hole and summon a giant steel ball to launch at you. Use your Magnesis Rune to grab the ball and drag it over to Kohga to deal damage. Do it as many times as needed to knock out the Leader of the Yiga Clan.
A treasure chest will appear after the cut scene. Inside is the Thunder Helm. You can exit the Yiga Clan’s Hideout by climbing the mountains to the east, or fast travel to the shrine near Gerudo Town. Return the Thunder Helm to Gerudo Chief Riju to continue the main quest.
