The Pokemon Mansion is a four-leveled building on Cinnabar Island. It holds a lot of secrets and Pokemon lore if you would like to go around and read any books you come across. The difficult thing about this mansion is getting around. There will be a number of locked doors without a key. The only way to switch doors is by interacting with statues. Press the button on the statue to open some doors while closing others on the same floor.
First Floor
When you enter the building, start checking the white columns on the right. One of them will be holding a hidden Moon Stone. Straight ahead is the staircase down a level. Don’t forget! Walk to the northeast and you’ll find an Escape Rope out in the open. You’ll probably need this for later.
Walk to the room all the way to the north to find a statue next to a bed. Investigate this statue and push a secret button to switch the doors up. You will need this later to exit out of the building if you don’t have an escape rope. Return to the staircase and take it up to the second floor.
Second Floor
Directly south of the staircase is a burgler! He happens to also be a Pokemon Trainer. Speak with him to challenge him to a battle.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Charmander | 34 | Fire | Ember, Leer, Rage, Slash |
Charmeleon | 34 | Fire | Ember, Leer, Rage, Slash |
Before clearing this floor, take the staircase nearby to the third floor. You’ll find an isolated part of the third floor with a Pokemon Trainer and a Max Potion.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Ninetales | 38 | Fire | Ember, Tail Whip, Quick Attack, Roar |
Return to the second floor and go to the northeast. A door should be open to a room containing a Carbos. After picking it up, return to the stairs and interact with the statue on the left. Press the secret switch to change up the doors. The office on the northwest side of the floor should now be open. Inside the office is a set of stairs that lead up to the third floor.
Third Floor
Once you reach the third floor, walk all the way east to find an Iron. Walk back west until you run into a statue. Interact with this statue to change the doors. Enter the newly opened area of the third floor to encounter a Pokemon Trainer.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Magnemite | 33 | Electric | Tackle, SonicBoom, ThunderShock, Supersonic |
Magneton | 33 | Electric | Tackle, SonicBoom, ThunderShock, Supersonic |
Voltorb | 33 | Electric | Screech, SonicBoom, SelfDestruct, Light Screen |
Look south towards a large, empty space. This is just a break in the floors that will take you back down to the first floor. However, you must jump down the left side, not the right side. When you jump down, you’ll come across another Pokemon Trainer.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Electrode | 29 | Electric | Screech, SonicBoom, SelfDestruct, Light Screen |
Weezing | 29 | Poison | Tackle, Smog, Sludge |
South of this Pokemon Trainer is a Carbos. Take the set of stairs to the east to reach the basement.
Basement First Floor
The Pokemon found in the basement are mostly the same as the other floors. However, if you have the Blue or Yellow versions, Magmar and Ditto will be added to their respective versions.
To the west is a small room with TM14 Blizzard inside. This is an incredibly powerful ice-type attack. Give it to a Pokemon with a great special to put a hurting on one of the strongest trainers in the game towards the end. But for now, you can battle the burglar next to the item.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Growlithe | 34 | Fire | Roar, Ember, Leer, Take Down |
Ponyta | 34 | Fire | Ember, Tail Whip, Stomp |
After the battle, interact with the statue within this same room to find another door switch. Walk westward to the end of this floor to find a Full Restore. Now walk all the way east to the newly opened offices. A Scientist will be waiting to battle you.
Pokemon | Level | Type | Moves |
---|---|---|---|
Magnemite | 34 | Electric | Tackle, SonicBoom, ThunderShock, Supersonic |
Electrode | 34 | Electric | Screech, SonicBoom, SelfDestruct, Light Screen |
Follow the hall all the way to the locked door. The open room to the north holds a Rare Candy. Go back to the room on the east and interact with the statue inside to flip the doors. Head back down the hall to the newly opened doors to find TM22 Solar Beam on a table. This is the strongest grass-type attack in the game, but it requires one turn to charge before it can be used.
Walk south to the final room to find the Secret Key. You need this key in your bag to access the Cinnabar City Gym. Now you can use your Escape Rope to instantly return to Cinnabar Island. If you already used the Escape Rope, use a Pokemon with Dig, a Pokemon with Teleport, or you’ll have to return to the first floor and exit out through the southeastern door.
