Items
There are a variety of items that can be used in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Most items can be purchased at Poke Marts in each town. Some can only be found in the wild. Below is a list of the various items you can use.
Poke Balls
You will need Poke Balls to catch the various Pokemon throughout Kanto. Poke Balls can be found at each Poke Mart. However, one Master Ball can be obtained at a certain point in game.

Healing Items
Item | Description |

Potion | Restores 20 HP to one Pokemon. |
Super Potion | Restore 50 HP to one Pokemon. |
Fresh Water | Restores 50 HP to one Pokemon. |
Soda Pop | Restores 60 HP to one Pokemon. |
Lemonade | Restores 80 HP to one Pokemon. |
Hyper Potion | Restores 200 HP to one Pokemon. |
Max Potion | Restores all HP to one Pokemon. |
Full Restore | Restores all HP and heals all status problems (except faint) of one Pokemon. |
Full Heal | Cures all status problems (except faint) of one Pokemon. |
Revive | Revives a fainted Pokemon and restores half of their HP. |
Max Revive | Revives a fainted Pokemon and restore all of their HP. |
Antidote | Cures the poisoned status condition. |
Awakening | Cures the sleep status condition. |
Burn Heal | Cures the burned status condition. |
Ice Heal | Cures the frozen status condition. |
Paralyze Heal | Cures the paralyzed status condition. |
Ether | Restores 10 PP to one move. |
Max Ether | Restores all PP to one move. |
Elixir | Restores 10 PP to all four moves. |
Max Elixir | Restores all PP to all four moves. |
Stat Boosting Items
Stat Boosting Items can be purchased at the Celadon Department Store. They will give a boost in one Pokemon’s stats during battle. The effects are removed when switched out or once the battle ends.

X Accuracy | Increases the accuracy of a Pokemon. |
X Attack | Increases the attack stat of a Pokemon. |

X Speed | Increases the speed stat of a Pokemon. |
Field Items
Field items can only be used when outside of battle. These can be purchased at various Poke Marts.

Escape Rope | Use the escape rope to exit out of a cave or building and return to the last Pokemon Center. |
Repel | Prevents wild Pokemon that are a lower level than the lead Pokemon in your party from appearing for 100 steps. |
Super Repel | Prevents wild Pokemon that are a lower level than the lead Pokemon in your party from appearing for 200 steps. |
Max Repel | Prevents wild Pokemon that are a lower level than the lead Pokemon in your party from appearing for 250 steps. |
Evolutionary Items
Some Pokemon can evolve once a certain stone is used on them. These stones can be purchased from the Celadon City Department Store.

Key Items
Select Key Items can be found throughout the game. They cannot be purchased or sold.

Good Rod | Allows you to fish for better Pokemon. | Obtain from the fisherman in Fuchsia City. |
Super Rod | Allows you to fish for the best Pokemon. | Obtain from the fisherman in the house on Route 12. |
Itemfinder | Dings when a hidden item is on screen. Must use it for it to ding. | Obtain from Prof. Oak’s Aide in the route house on Route 11. You must have captured 30 or more Pokemon. |
