The Pokemon Tower is a seven-floor cemetery in Lavender Town. The first time you reach Lavender Town, you won’t be able to go beyond the sixth floor, nor will you be able to catch any wild Pokemon. After clearing Team Rocket’s HQ, grab the Silph Scope to identify all Ghost Pokemon throughout Pokemon Tower. The Silph Scope won’t be needed to see the Pokemon in Trainer battles.
Second Floor
If you didn’t battle him when you first arrived in Lavender Town, you’ll have to do it now! Your Rival’s team is becoming well-balanced and strong. Try to hit their elemental and either physical or special weaknesses. If they have a high special, hit them with physical elements.

Walk to the west side of the floor to find the staircase to the next level.
Third Floor
An Escape Rope can be found at the north side of this floor. Next to it is a possessed Pokemon Trainer. There are actually three Pokemon Trainers on this floor. Moreover, all the possessed mediums and channelers will use either Gastly or Haunter. These Pokemon are weak to ghost, psychic, ground, and bug-type attacks. Normal and fighting-type attacks won’t touch them, so don’t even bother! When it comes to their moves, Lick is the only actual Ghost-type attack in the game, and it’s rather weak. However, Lick can paralyze your Pokemon, so you might want to bring some Paralyze Heals or Full Heals. Night Shade is also a ghost-type attack, but it will always take off HP equal to the user’s level. If a level 23 Gastly uses Night Shade, they’ll knock off 23 HP.

One final item, a Rare Candy, will block your path towards the last staircase. Hopefully you have room in your bag; if not, use an item to gain a free slot. Walk towards the staircase to discover the ghost who has been causing all the trouble in Pokemon Tower!

Marowak is a tough opponent, being at such a high level. However, it’s only attack is Bone Club, a ground-type attack. If your Pokemon aren’t strong enough to take out Marowak head on, use a flying-type Pokemon to gain immunity to all of its attacks. The ghost of Marowak cannot be captured, so don’t bother wasting any Poke Balls! After defeating Cubone’s fallen mother, take the stairs to the top floor.

Talk with Mr. Fuji in the back of the room when you’re done with Pokemon Tower. He’ll take you back to his home in Lavender Town. Speak with him at his home to receive the Poke Flute!
The Poke Flute allows you to wake up sleeping Pokemon. It can be used instead of a Full Heal or Awakening during battle. It’s also the only way to wake up the sleeping Snorlax blocking Route 12 and Route 16! Remember, these are the only two Snorlax in the game. Save before interacting with them or you might miss your chance to catch this incredibly powerful Pokemon.

Your next stop is either the two routes with the Snorlax, which will then lead to Fuchsia City in the south, or Saffron City in the center of the map. Some people hold off Saffron City’s because it’s tougher than Fuchsia. Others like to go to Saffron first because of the anime, or because it’s right there. The choice is yours!
