Secret Techniques in Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are the modern replacement for Hidden Machines found in previous Pokemon games. Instead of teaching your Pokemon a mediocre attack that can’t be easily forgotten, your partner Pokemon will learn these five techniques to help you navigate through Kanto – and they won’t take up a move slot! Your Partner Pokemon doesn’t even have to be in your party to use the secret technique!
To access the secret technique list, select “Play with Pikachu / Eevee” from the main menu.
Chop Down
Chop Down replaces HM01 Cut. With this secret technique, your partner Pokemon can cut down large bushes around Kanto to access new areas. To learn this secret technique, speak with the captain of the S.S. Anne in Vermilion City. A ticket to the S.S. Anne can be obtained from Bill in his cottage on Route 25.
Sky Dash
Sky Dash replaces HM02 Fly. With this secret technique, your partner Pokemon can fly with you back to a previously visited city in Kanto. To learn this secret technique, speak with the person in front of the Rocket Game Corner in Celadon City. He will be next to what looks like a bike with balloons.
Strong Push
Strong Push replaces HM04 Strength. With this secret technique, your partner Pokemon can push large boulders around. To learn this secret technique, locate and return the Safari Zone Warden’s missing teeth from Route 19, just south of Fuchsia City.
Sea Skim
Sea Skim replaces HM03 Surf. With this secret technique, your partner Pokemon can surf with you over large bodies of water to access new areas and catch new water Pokemon. To learn this secret technique, speak with the man standing next to the Lapras in Fuchsia City.
Light Up
Light Up replaces HM05 Flash. With this secret technique, your partner Pokemon can light up completely dark caves around Kanto. To learn this secret technique, locate Professor Oak’s Aide on Route 2. Chop Down will be needed to reach the Aide from the west side of Route 2, or Diglett’s Cave can be taken from Vermilion City.
