Aeons are divine creatures that only answer the call of a true summoner. The only playable summoner in Final Fantasy X is Yuna. Each Aeon has unique powers and characteristics that will grow as Yuna does, and as new items are acquired.
Once an Aeon is summoned, all other party members leave the battle field. Only the Aeon will battle until the battle ends, the Aeon is defeated, or the Aeon is withdrawn. Aeons can use unique attacks, common skills or spells, and even have their own overdrive!
Other Aeon commands include Shield and Boost. Press Right on the D-Pad to see these subcommands along with Dismiss, which will withdraw the Aeon from battle. Shield will allow the Aeon to take only 1/4th damage from attacks until the Aeon’s next turn, but their Overdrive gauge will not fill up. Boost causes the Aeon to receive more damage, but will charge the Overdrive gauge by 2x.
Additional abilities can be taught to an Aeon when the Summoner’s Soul key item is obtained in the Moonflow. Use various items to teach Aeons new abilities.
An Aeon’s attributes (HP, MP, Strength, Defense, Magic, Magic Defense, Agility, Luck, Evasion, and Accuracy) can be increased once the Aeon’s Soul key item is obtained in the Calm Lands. The same spheres used on the Sphere Grid can be used to increase an Aeon’s attributes.
