After this battle you will find your rival on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Indigo Plateau Pokemon League HQ ready to fight!
Mt.Moon is pretty small and straight forward. First thing you should do is head to the right and up the ladder. It leads to another small area which exits the cave. To the right is a hidden item (Max Revive). In this area is a store with kind of lame items. Nothing too useful. On Monday Nights Clefairy come out and dance around. You can enter the south cave in this area which leads to a ladder and a ledge on the first floor again. If you exit out of the cave on the first floor you’ll reach Route 4

Viridian City
You’ll find out soon that the GYM Leader is gone. He’s a man from Pallet Town and is the toughest GYM Leader you’ll face. The PokeMart is underneath it and the Pokemon Center is under that. To the left of the PokeMart is the Trainer House.
The Trainer House is a place where you can battle a few trainers once a day. You don’t earn any EXP but you do earn Battle Points. After they upgrade your Vs Recorder then you’ll be able to see your BPs. You can trade those BPs for items at the Battle Frontier later on. You cannot use items and your pokemon heal after each battle. The pokemon try to match your level but if your pokemon are over level 50 then the pokemon your pokemon’s level will drop to level 50. You get 1 BP after each win. It seems you face the three johto starters only.
In the lower left corner of the map you’ll find a sleeping man behind a small cut-able tree. Cut it down and talk to him to get TM85 Dream Eater.
Next thing to do is head South to Pallet.

Pallet Town is really small. There are three houses only. The house on the left is Red’s House, but he’s not there and hasn’t been for years. The right house is Blue’s House, he’s the Viridian City GYM Leader. Unfortunately he’s not home either but his sister is. She will give massages to your pokemon once a day from 3-4 PM. The last house is Prof. Oak’s Lab. He says when you collect all 16 Badges return to him for a gift. He’ll also evaluate your pokemon. There’s nothing else to do in Pallet Town so the next thing to do is surf South

Route 21 is a route that goes South to Cinnabar. There are no Pokemon Centers in Pallet so if you want to heal before you go you’ll have to fly back to Viridian. You have to surf the whole way and you’ll encounter a few trainers, but you don’t have to fight them all. There’s also a small patch of grass to get some pokemon. There are 12 trainers on the route. The fisherman have super lame pokemon and then there’s some bird catchers here and there. The swimmers are the best to battle. Surf south and you’ll see a swimmer:

Blaine has some high leveled pokemon of the fire types. Magcargo is fire/rock which means he’s double weak to water and ground. Overheat is a very powerful special attack but it lowers their special attack stat to levels each time they use it. That’s where the White Herb comes into play. It heals their stat loss one time. Two have sunny day which will also power up fire type attacks so look out. They also have a few secondary attacks like Magmar’s thunder punch that can take out water type pokemon so be wary. Rapidash’s Bounce may paralyze you too.
